About Ki-Rin

Ki-Rin origins

Ki-Rin was founded in 2003 to energise individuals and organisations to influence change and benefit communities. Since then it has helped to transform numerous organisations and developed strategies to spark social change.

The underlying approach is based on the principles of Eastern Philosophies. 'Ki' is a fundamental concept of traditional Chinese culture. Ki is believed to be part of everything that exists, as in "life force" or "spiritual energy," It is most often translated as "energy flow," or literally as "air" or "breath". The term 'Kirin', or even 'Kiran', is derived from the Sanskrit traditions, meaning ray of light or energy from the sun.

Our Mission

Ki-Rin’s Mission is to achieve social change by supporting visionary social entrepreneurs, organisations and leaders to make a sustainable social impact to the most disadvantaged in the global community.

Our Vision

Ki-Rin’s Vision is of a world where every individual, organisation and community group is committed to positively transforming the lives of others and the environment through the process of self-empowerment, creativity and social change.

Our Philosophy

The Ki-Rin sun symbolises energy. This represents the energy we inject into all the projects we support through social entrepreneurship and through the corporate social responsibility strategies we support companies with. This is also universal energy, which has the potential to be transformed from micro individual form to the macro global level.

We believe in the endless capacity for humans to give and get more in return, the capacities for companies to contribute and increase their own brand and stakeholder value, and the capacities for social causes to be sustainable and transform the lives of the most socially disadvantaged. We believe in our own capacity to help facilitate this process for you.
