This is an excellent initiative from Ki-Rin. Paradoxically, even international charities suffer from lack of cultural diversity in management and governance. This is precisely the place where cultural nuances and networks become key to decision-making. Also the world lives in Britain, so there is no excuse that 'there is no-one suitable'! I feel with quality community engagement, initial drops can quickly turn into waterfalls of opportunity, funding and creative ideas. As you say, Diversity is not about Us and Them, but Us and Us.

This may not be exactly the picture at the moment as the economic squeeze has been making people nervous about what they should spend their money on, whether to 'invest' in social cause, or who to trust with their hard earned money. Maybe a would be investor can comment on this?

Absolutely right. I run a local charity that provides disadvantaged young people with opportunities in employment and social integration. Whilst we occasionally attarct funding for our projects, we rarely get full cost recovery. The local statutory providers are cash strapped and corporates are uniterested. Any approaches for major gifts are fruitless as we keep being told by individuals we approach that they prefer to be associated with big brand charities.
