Karen Darke - Arm Power to the South Pole 2011

Ki-Rin is very proud to sponsor an initiative, called the Pole of Possibility, led by a remarkable individual, Karen Darke. Karen, who is paralyzed from the chest down, is aiming to make the record books by becoming the first person to ski to the South Pole using only arm power. Through the 60-day challenge and skiing 730 miles across dangerous crevasse fields of Antarctica, she, together with a small team, will aim to raise £1million for disability charities.

Why are we supporting this initiative? Well, we love the force behind the challenge. We have found Karen’s enthusiasm, determination, generosity and vision to be incredibly infectious and inspiring.

If this inspires you too and you would like to support Karen in this mighty challenge, you can do that directly by visiting her website Pole of Possibility.

"As a result of Ki-Rin's input, NHS Richmond has been able to plan work in accordance with evidence-based research and best practice, giving us access to in-depth, reliable up-to-date guidance about our local community needs and profile.

We have found KI-RIN a great organisation to work with this project delivering to timely deadlines, very professional and also great fun to work with. We hope to continue to work with the organisation in the future. From experience of working on this project we would not hesitate to recommend them."

Jane Bailey, Equality & Diversity Lead, Public Health, NHS Richmond
